it sounds like Betsy Hackman died first of a viral infection I can't figure out how to spell. it wasn't a transmissible infection, probably picked up from animal feces. Gene had pronounced dementia and didn't know what to do for a week before passing himself. the dog was in a pet carrier so they starved I guess.
