Enjoyed Fallout3 but New Vegas was rubbish. Even a flippin nuclear apocolypse couldn't wipe out the elvis fans. ![]() |

alver that trailer is old now but still awesome. I spotted the fake immediately. hello darkness my old friend was a song by Simon and Garfunkal. but because it was made in 1964 it conflicts with fallout's alternate timeline. I think everything up to 1950s is historically correct, then their universe skewed off into an alternate tangent. futuristic settings were coupled with old world ideals. for example, in 2077 our world will be advanced with barely any signs of mid 20th century lifestyles.

in 2077 fallout universe they still adopted 50s living. you could still hear the words in songs, stepFord style wives made their husbands dinner after he had a hard day at the office. removing his trilby hat whilst his son comes in from playing in the park. old fashioned radios still exist and cars look futuristic but as though designed from a 50s perspective. in short, fallout is a terrifying glimpse of the future from a mid 19th century view. its fkin great

@ shadow27 - 17.03.13 - 02:52pm i reckon the difference between worlds.. was ritchie valens, the big bopper and buddy holly didn't die in that plane crash. i reckon in fallout world elvis never became famous, kennedy never got shot, nixon didnt quit, reagan never got elected, the war on terror was against the chinese, canada becamethe fourteenth american commenwealth and radios stayed analog |

oops i was wrong about elvis...From the late-1940s (for whatever reason the Transistor isn't built) until 2077 the Earth of Fallout (especially America) is caught in a 1950s cultural stasis, with robots, atomic powered cars, radioactive preserved TV dinners, and monochrome TVs that still show The Honeymooner's 110 years after the show was cancelled. Elvis was still popular, and we can pretty much assume due to the 50s vibe of the series the South remained a Democratic stronghold well into t

well into the 21st Century, and there is still Jim Crow in most parts of the USA (imagine Mr. Handy's or Protect-o-trons enforcing it ). America still remained in that Stepford Suburbia mindset, so much of the BosWash corridor and most American cities in general looks more like Leave it to Beaver than OTL.

the single biggest difference between our world and fallout is the fact the transister wasnt discovered, therefore miniturization of electronics was neglected.Sometime before 1969, in an attempt to mitigate the influence of Communism, the United States adopts a system of 13 Commonwealths. In 1970, China fails to adopt any free market reforms and remains similar to what it was under Mao. In 1991 the USSR did not collapse.
