Who is the fastest on WHAT???  Mr Malmsteen has a talent for sure, he is amazing guitarist and very fast in a specific style. Thats all. His technique is very limited when we'll compare him with serious guitarists like John McLaughlin, Scott Henderson, Al Di Meola, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Jeff Beck etc etc etc...You can be very fast in easy things...

...and Mr Malmsteen plays easy things. He cant play_even in his most wild dreams_what, for example, George Benson was playing in...1970! As for his compositions? This is really his most vulnerable spot. The guy dont know yet how and WHEN to stop his solos. MERCY! I cant listen a 4:00 minutes track with 3:30 minutes guitar solo!  The guy is moron! He doing that all the time!

Eruption? Wasnt that a van halen solo.. Technically and theory wise i prefer john petrucci. He knows where to play slow and play fast. Satch is melodious.. Steve vai.. Erm.. No comments.. Pw if u want fastest go check micheal angelo batio.. Not my kinda music though..

And john mclaughlin? Isnt that the guy who play on eric claptons concert with just tabla and drums? Whoa that is really huge stuff. I was blow away and i kept thinking. Man.. How does that guy play all those weird melodies over those weird timings.
