You've heard the Soulfly album Conquer, right? The outro in Touching The Void is this Middle Eastern jam, great stuff.

Dude i haven't even had a chance to get Conquer, i keep hearing its a great album i own all previous Soulfly albums though. I'll try get Conquer this week

I haven't heard much, I just hear it here and there, like in travel shows and mixed into music I listen to, e.g. metal band Soulfly has had some arabian influenced stuff on some albums, like the song Salmo 91, there's an arabian prayer call in the background I think. Haven't heard many full songs, I really like the style though.

Definitely, Conquer is brilliant. It's very Middle Eastern influenced in my opinion, I get this sort of desert vibe from it. Very fluent too, the songs fit together better than ever. I think Prophecy might still be my favourite though. New album in about a year by the way, both from Soulfly and CC.

Theirs alot of religious influence in Soulfly's music. Max is a devoted Christian. On the original Soulfly albums i got it says 'dedicated to God' on the back.

He's not christian, he's sort of against religious establishments if I've understood right. He's just very spiritual and takes influences from different religions.

I have a cd called Mabool - The Story Of The Three Sons Of Seven by Orphaned Land who are from Israel (not an Arab country but a fifth of the population are descended from Arabs). Great metal with harsh and clean vocals, progressive and classical elements,as well as traditional Middle Eastern music. Amazing album

Wierd that I didn't think of Karl Sanders first since I got the new album a week ago

both the albums are brilliant.. he say he just did the project to keep him sane from playing brutal death metal stuff. and he's not sure how long he'll be doing 'em..
