Symbian 1st of all has an archaic UI and the OS itself is showing its age. Its inability to separate apps to app services (the app runs as a whole), the lack of a decent notification system, developer support is dying -notice how great apps like CorePlayer never made it officialy past S60v3, game developers are also going with only Gameloft being the main maker of games, and lets not forget...

The poor hardware (CPU/GPU/RAM) they provide, the best being 256mb RAM with an ARM11 CPU which limits software developers who want to make more advanced apps and games. At this point you cant even find a good Web browser for Symbian you're limited to the awfuly slow and outdated built-in browser, Opera Mobile and Mini, and maybe some half finished Beta effort, the evidence is everywhere.

ok, that's about software. now, about the ease of use - yesterday i got to play with an Android device for a couple of hours. well... if that is what you people call intuitive.. i can't ever browse through folders! to see audio tracks, i need to open multimedia player, to see pictures i need to open photo browser... if i want to roam through folders and files, i need a 3rd-party software.

and, besides that, every 3rd-party file manager also displays system folders, which i do not want to see,

Thats the beauty of a smartphone, if you feel as if you want to add extra functionality you install a 3rd party app, i see no issue with that, neither do the majority of smartphone users out there. You can set it not to show system folders. Its all about logic, you want to see pics? open photo browser, listen to music? open music player etc...whats so wrong with that?

wrong with that is that it feels awful for me, that i can't roam through folders without using 3rd party app. besides, to set it not to show system folders, it will take two days.

Well then tyrone maybe you shouldnt be buying smartphones, as 3rd party apps to add what you want and need are part of the package. No, to set it not to show system folders takes a simple second by just setting it to hide them in the Settings of whatever filemanager you're using.

Symbian is out dated n all u have to do is see what phones have been released recently n what phones are coming out to see how popular n how high in demand Android is. its the most popular platform on the market n I don't even use one, I use a Blackberry so u can't say I'm being biased... however u seem biased towards Symbian n using a Android phone for a couple of hours isn't enough to understand

i0S is the most user friendly smartphone 0S At present which one of the very few good points of the iphone. Android is pretty close to i0S in useability terms and its a far less restricted platform to i0s. There is no doubt android is king at the moment and its set to overtake ios fairly soon. There are far more apps for android than symbian and also a higher percentage of free apps.

Though am a Nokia symbian boy since 4yrs ago, symbian does good in the past and Nokia should be consider great indeed but symbian is now of age which operate on old hardware but little polish firmware till date.... You can't imagine Andriod phone hardware processor 1.5GHz dual core which beat our laptop!

I know something that 1.5GHz dual-core is not the end of technology, In the next 4yrs to now, The very best Andriod or iphone now may be nothing to mobile market technology

well I think any desktop operating system older than windows xp is a waste of time these days. I recently installed windows 2000 pro on a spare computer just out of curiosity. whilst it is a very stable O.S I was quite shocked how little is supported these days. oh we all know microsoft dropped support a while ago but iam talking about 3rd party software that we all use.

for instance it wont even accept the latest version of adobe flash so even you tube is more or less out the window, with uhh windows 2000.
