this update is meant to be coming for most wp7.0 handsets, but I find that after searching this forum nobody seems to be discussing it which surprises me. surely iam not the only one aware of it? there is a new start screen simular to wp8, and a rumour of bluetooth file transfer, but not sure what other extras. its meant to be due the end of this month. microsoft claim it will be the fnal update for wp7 users. |

just out of curiosity has anyone managed to transfer files via the nokia play to dnla app to other phones or devices? or via some other method over wi-fi?

Bluetooth File Transfer among capabilities like taking screenshots etc. The update for Windows Phone 7.5 is said to arrive in 2013.

yeah meant to be quarter one 2013. there are also websites that claim nokia are launching an app for it for their first generation lumia phones. actually ive just noticed that polo has mentioned wp7.8 on one of his posts, even if very briefly.

TECH RADAR STATEMENT ON WP7.8 NOVEMBER 19TH 2012: nokia has let it accidently slip that the 7.8 update could be landing on users handsets within weeks, if not days as the updated software has now been released to the manufacturers. it claims the consumer roll out will definitely happen before 2013 but 7.8 wont be coming with IE10. all I can tell you is that I last checked Zune yesterday and nothing as of yet.

GSM ARENA STATEMENT 26TH NOVEMBER: nokia lumia 510 seen running 7.8 in Finland. new start screen with more colour themes, resizable live tiles, re-designed system apps (office and xbox games store included) only information available so far. wp7.8 build is: 7.10.8858.136 (still no official release date)

interestingly the Finnish brochure seen with the 510 claims 7.8 wont be the final update for wp7, claiming that support in the form of updates will be ongoing. unless this is just for Finland? your guess is as good as mine! its nokias home ground after all.

checked mine but zune has stated no updates for my lumia 800 yet and iam in the uk too. may depend on the carrier though. mine came with 02.

update is out around the world right now ,was release before 30th jan13.Ive connect my lumia800 to zune since that date not no new update .peeps who got it are moaning abt it ..

yes I was reading something in the uk magazine what mobile about it very recently. problems with the audio volume on the lumia 800 while making calls was one issue at least. (earpiece volume)

the question is though, have microsoft actually announced what phones are getting the update yet? because the last I heard was that not every wp7 handset would qualify, therefore iam assuming some of the older phones are excluded regardless if the hardware is man enough or not. but your in the philippines so the situation maybe different out there I have no idea? I have only had one comment from a uk user on this post so far who claims hes updated to wp7.8 but he has not commented further since.
