He was waiting at a bus stop with two friends ,when he was approached by around 6 or 7 young British who attacked him when he admitted he was an asylum seeker ...he lies in hospital now ,beaten severely, fractured spine and a blood clot on his brain ....
Shameful ..

Others joined the attack (upto 30 ,according to reports) and chased and attacked him ..

Very lengthy jail sentences are required for the vermin that are convicted of this crime.

Indeed terry ....but also lessons must be learned by communities that have an influx of asylum seekers ,refugees and immigrants ...

It's always a hate crime when the victim is not white . The other way round and it wouldn't have made national news and probrably only had a small article in a local paper

Saw some Syrian refugees on tv, they seemed quite nice tbh. But then we did take a lot of the Christian refugees in preference

Our rural communities will take them. It's a positive thing.

Perhaps if affected communities worked towards basic integration policies things would be different ..
What if the attackers had been to events where they met with newcomers ..maybe helped them with English etc ...

If he was beaten based upon him being an asylum seeker then yes it's a hate crime. If he was beaten after it was established he is an asylum seeker and that was the reasoning or motive for the attack then it's a hate crime.

Reading now that six more people have been charged over the attack.

The problem with classifying things as hate crimes is that you elevate certain groups suffering over others when you don't apply the label of hate crime consistently. And we know it is applied very selectively.

Perhaps their 'motives are unknown.' Sounds familiar.

Disgusting, hate crime or not, someone being jumped by a gang of 30 is disgusting. Poor kid, hope whoever done this gets the full weight of the law put on them.
