I don't think it will happen here, sh*t.. diesel is soooo much cheaper as an alternative. Can't see it happening anywhere rural.

Are they gonna run a government funded trade in scheme so we can get a decent price for our diesel cars?... I might go and buy a load of diesel cars as an investment.. ![]() |

I just wonder what plans the treasury has to claw back the revenues it's going to lose from fuel duty. That's a lot of money it will have to find.

23yrs ago it was all about new cars having to have catalysts, and some even had airbag steering wheels. Now we have electric cars that can do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds, and free electric charging points in many retail areas. |

I'm a pure cyclist now, and rode around London yesterday with a kid on the back. But i can't see where they're going with this. Cars are a necessity for our infrastructure, we simply don't have suitable alternative yet. There was only room for two bikes on the entire train, i can't carry much, cycling isn't for everyone. Electric cars are now filtering onto our roads but what when most of them need charging? What when they're being stolen for batteries? How are we gonna supply and charge hundreds of billions of kilos of battery packs - we'll need countless new nuclear plants, the infrastructure is unforeseeable. It's nice getting cars out of city centres too, but what happens is city centres then die, and end up full of nothing but shoe shops, wine bars, and tramps. Driving is not a crime. |

I like the New hybred electric petrol cars they are advertising on tv. They are the best of both worlds. If you run out of electric or petrol.
