How does one go about doing it? Are you required having a license? Or you just need to take a couple of lessons? What if you don't have it (the right papers) and go rogue? |

I believe you need lessons before you can go out and scuba somewhere. I know that there's a place in my (very inland) city that does lessons. Just Google it in your area... That said, I think it would be an amazing experience to scuba at a reef. I think I'll add that to my bucket list.

Medical, some classroom work and starting out in a swimming pool. I got to the swimming pool part but never continued. Its for a PADI licence. I keep thinking about doing it again .

I don't think a license is required for it, but I'd guess having some training would be useful. You could hurt yourself (die) if you just go rogue lol

I'm sure theres someone that'll take you down for a peek for money, full gear n all that. Like a day trip thing... Doing it yourself sounds like an expensive way to nearly die? |

You will need to get your scuba diving certification before you can dive. You will also need the certification to rent or buy the equipment. Google scuba diving lessons near me.

its not illegal here to dive without licence or at least C cert but it is stupid. Also you cant dive with any dive club or any dive centre without at least C cert. (about hunjfiddy n a cpl hours)

It's not technically illegal here either but like I said, a business will not rent or sell you scuba diving equipment without a certification as they could be held liable if you were involved in an accident. I could lend equipment to a buddy but I would be responsible. You can join a diving group tour and get a shallow diving certification (40feet) but you would have to past a written and pool test first if you wanted too try diving on holiday in the Bahamas

Seriously I wanna do this. The whole world's a playground. Subterranean caves with lakes, vast coral reef systems, vast freshwater lakes (especially in this continent), underwater wrecks... But if I do decide to try the training out here inland, I can give those subterranean water systems a dive. Read about them in my old Guinness WR books as a kid. Think there in Kuruman. Some sinkholes that go extremely deep within the earth. |

At least this is achievable. Must do research and save for it. |

Just keep in mind that it's really dangerous. There's a video on YouTube of an expert diver's death, in that moment, as it happened. And remember another well experienced diver died when those children were trapped in a cave somewhere... I don't want to discourage you, but instead encourage you to take the safety and training very seriously. There really is a whole other world to discover. Google 'Cenote Angelita diving', I think it's magical!
