Seems harsh. Worst thing at my school was the cane. I think it was banned by 1985 but that didn't stop my teacher. I didn't get it, though.

Actually, we had air rifles too. A shop near my school sold them. Quite a few people had a Gat gun, though they weren't very good. We used to shoot each other in the legs with pellets, but you didn't use ball bearings on people. And definitely not in the head.

Many, wrongly, belived it wasn't an air pistol and thought the barrel movement forwards, just hurled the pellet/dart/cork forwards. However, the barrel's movement forwards is actually a piston direcring air towards the pistols breech. |

The victim has recently regained consciousness. Having been shot in the face at close range. From the news reports this wasn't gang or drug related. At least two lives ruined over a teenage argument by all accounts..
