Do you ever eat anything passed the expiry date? Surely there are some things that just cannot be eaten after its supposed shelf life.. So Im watching tv and needed a snack so I grabbed some blueberry biscuits and a glass of milk. Im munching and crunching away, I just thought man I forgot how good these biscuits were cause I havent had them in a while. That made me glanced at the packaging and it had an expiry date of Aug 2021. I was like dayum, but fu*k it I was done with a packet by then. They were so yummy, I literally killed another pack of those biscuits right after reading the date. Biting in them while counting on my fingers how many months have passed. Alive and kicking, never been better. When it comes to express food, how far would you go? |

Tinned food in usually perfectly fine unless the tins are damaged, dinted or rusty. You're biscuits should be fine and perhaps only noticable thing would be their texture if we're older than last year. Check the following link. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jZoHuMwZwTk Boer war ration ![]() That guy likes eating old Military MRE food. Don't let MOK now as he may have some of his rations in his cupboard. |

That’s kinda gross, actually.
I’m thinking a year, maybe two.. not a century. Surely he’s gonna die from it. ![]() |

Raw meat or salad doesn't even always make it to it's date, let alone past it. I generally don't do over-date. Sometimes it's possible to save something by cooking it. I'll occasionally buy a reduced joint, roast it, then that's my sliced cold meat for the next few days. But sometimes I've gone over, if it's something I've deemed safe - I've drank beer a couple of weeks over. But I stopped at Marmite. Found a jar yesterday 3.5 years outta date! But then, has it really been 3.5yrs since I last used it...? |

Certain beers will keep for a long while, others will start to deteriorate and lose flavour after a few months, it really depends on the alcohol content. As a general rule, the stronger it is the longer it will last. Anything above 9-10'/.abv can be kept for many years(in exactly the same way as you can with wine).

the one that catches me out more is the storage or 'once opened consume within'. I've bought some tomato puree in a squeezy tube and just assumed it was good for a while. the food poisoning was so bad that I had an all over body sweat while hunched over in agony. |

Fresh fruit juice is little better than milk, on longevity. I don't do refrigerated drinks, i like stuff at least room temperature, so i leave a juice/smoothie out. I've almost invariably drank it within a few hours, but if it's still out the next morning it's rarely any good.

Fresh fruit juices and and smoothies are meant to be had on the spot. Theyre basically just as useless a few hours later as they are being left to sit overnight. A lot of natural cultures and enzymes die/ deteriorate once they are left sitting anyways. Ive also had canned food past expiry date, here and there. |

Why eat something out of date ? What is the value of any food that it warrants the risk ?

@ peta - 20.06.22 - 01:30pm Yes, yes, proudly. I spend my own money tho. Your own money to eat decaying expired food? You come across as very unhygienic and unaware, maybe even unhealthy. Cant imagine what youre like in relationships. ![]() |

Same reason as obsessively following people around the forum like a massive c*nt. Must be a fu*king reward to it. ![]() |

i try not to eat anything after the expiry date. Also cerain things can only stay opened/unsealed for x number of days and the expiry fate refers to them being sealed. Obvious ones go visibly bad like milk, bread etc.

Honey, because it never expires. Other than that, C-Rations made back in 1953 which tasted better than most of the canned foods I grew up with.
