![]() So how high can you jump off the floor? obviously unassisted by any other means than your leg strength? ![]() I can probably jump about a foot high, but can't test as I've a bad back. More importantly, how high can you jump off the floor? ![]() I guess I could jump higher than a foot(30cm) if I had a run and then jump. How about you? ![]() Please, don't anyone go falling over trying. ![]() |

It would have to be a guesstimate. That's not an easy thing to measure accurately on your own, you'd kinda need an assistant for that, or at the very least some complicated camera work. Also what are we measuring exactly? Is it a straight upwards jump, legs straight, from a standing position? Or is it how far can you get off the ground(jumping and then bending knees, lifting up legs, etc)?

You can jump in most video games but when do you ever need to jump in real life? I've not jumped in years

On a cross country run, people were queueing to get over a fence, using a slippery 45-degree board as a ramp. I was waiting for nobody. I sprinted straight up to the fence a few feet further along, shouted ''COME ON!'' and hurdled it at full pelt. Thankfully I cleared it, landed running, and carried on - executed the leap perfectly. I figured it'd raise a laugh if I fell, but still put a year's worth of strength into it. The fence was about the height of the length of a pallet, which is 1.2 metres. It was about ten years ago, before injuries from two big accidents slowed me down. Right now at work, in steelies, no warm-up, and attempting that would probably end up in a disciplinary hearing, for one thing. But I have a euro pallet here - on its side it's 800mm, about 2.6ft. And I've just lept over it with ease. |

We also have 1200x1000 pallets here, and I could do one if I had my trainers with me. But my steelies are elastic-sided slip-on desert boots, and no good for this at all.. |

Next time I'm out on a run, I'll find something to leap. Where there's secure footwear, soft grass, and loose pants. Until then... |
