The US military has recently had a number of incidents exposed that show troops were trained to hate islam in order to supress terrorism.. is it a smart move to brainwash soldiers this way? |

Emerging details of inflammatory anti-Islam materials used in U.S. military training have prompted a chorus of outrage from civil rights and American Muslim groups, and growing demands for the dismissal of military leaders associated with the course, and for other actions to address the issue.

The materials, first detailed by Wired.com, used in an elective course at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., promoted total war against Muslims in order to stave off terrorism. The course, Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism, raised the option of taking war to a civilian population, in disregard of the Geneva Convention of 1949, and possibly destruction of Mecca and Medina, Islams holiest sites.

'This is Abu Ghraib by power point and lectern,' said Mikey Weinstein, president of the nonprofit Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), referring to the scandal that erupted in 2004 after the surfacing of torrid pictures of U.S. troops abusing prisoners in Iraq. 'Its even worse than Abu Ghraib. What they are talking about is essentially genocide,' of Muslims.

Well there you go. Something is already being done about it. Do you think the same can be said of countries opposed to america? I'm pretty certain they would be using similar methods to make the enemy look bad.

But you do get my point, right? How much anti-american material/publications/propaganda is floating around out there? Must be quite a bit by now, they made lots of enemies. Surely if it's okay to have an anti-american viewpoint then an anti-islamic one is just as valid?

are all eastern soldiers tought to hate christianity? i see u want to try justify it by the famous 'look over there' speech but it makes no difference, america is a democratic nation, a model for world peace and stability that just isnt supposed to do cr*p like this, so far its unclear how widespread this is but it doesnt excuse that it has happened..

So a high standard applies to one group but not the other? How convenient..

In my view, teaching soldiers this kind of thing is simply brainwashing, i havnt seen all of the material but alot of it is bias nonsense, propoganda, an really its not a good idea to fill a persons head with such things and then hand him a gun, very dangerous..

The military usually expects high standards of itself

Shadow u need to identify the 'sides' because it seems to me u are comparing a jihadi radical to a US soldier when they are not the same, take an iraqi or saudi soldier and then compare..

Vamp i agree americans did the right thing in shutting that program down, however its been operating since 2004, and probably reached many officers who then trained their squads..

@ vampboy - 25.05.12 - 07:18am I agree, but its safe to say that not all military officers are corrupted or evil like this man, and that many were against this programme. As long as there are good people existing to stand up against such injustice, in my opinion. its all good. Absolutely, its because of those decent americans that it was stopped in its tracks and they deserve respect, this course didnt reach all soldiers as basic training, it was voluntary for officers and these officers should come forward for evaluation in case they were corrupted.. if america is going to do the right thing in other countries it essential that they are not influenced this way.. |

Ive seen for years how the USG stated that drones were operating in afgan territory but earlier this month i saw an interview with karzai speaking to russian journalists, he said that drones have always operated in pakistan as he deflected controversial questions about national sovereignty.. drones dont breach afgan sovereignty because they aint in afganistan, apparently..
