If you are a creationist how do you link the bible chronology to recent science findings pointing to a billions of years old universe?

@ purest1 - 1.06.12 - 08:03am If you are a creationist how do you link the bible chronology to recent science findings pointing to a billions of years old universe? On the first day God created... On the second day .... Well a day wasn't a day of 24 hrs as we kno a day... I believe that God made it all.. But like Mab, I believe in creatin by God nd evolution, I can even see how the big bang theory could be a possibility, no reason we can't believe in both. |

@ purest1 - 1.06.12 - 08:03am If you are a creationist how do you link the bible chronology to recent science findings pointing to a billions of years old universe? Putting the Bible aside for a moment, is science correct in claiming the universe to be billions of years old? If science is correct does it mean that the human race is also billions of years old? As for evolution, evolued from what? And where is that 'what' come from? |

@ mab21 - 1.06.12 - 09:56am im a creationist but i believe in evolution too. i don't see how the two cant go along together lol. ![]() Depends on what you mean, mab. But if by 'creationist' you mean creating according to the Genesis Model, I find it difficult to understand how you reconcile the two. Genesis model is about each ''kind'' of creature being directly created as it is, without any common ancestry and subsequent derivation of species from the common ancestors. Would you explain what you mean? |

For instance how would you link neanderthals, cro-magnons, homo-habilis etc with ''Adam and Eve''?

@ ladibud - 1.06.12 - 09:59am On the first day God created... On the second day .... Well a day wasn't a day of 24 hrs as we kno a day... I believe that God made it all.. But like Mab, I believe in creatin by God nd evolution, I can even see how the big bang theory could be a possibility, no reason we can't believe in both. I admit, there is no agreement about the 'days' of creation and how long they were. What d'you think? If the writers didn't mean to say they were seven actual days (24-hours) why did they re-inforce each passing day with ''there was evening and morning''. These expressions to me would make sense in 'actual' days. Also the Jewish Sabbath was a commemoration of the 7th day. If the days weren't literal, I doubt if the Sabbath model would make sense. |

If science is correct does it mean that the human race is also billions of years old? As for evolution, evolued from what? And where is that 'what' come from? Is it correct? That's up to each individual to assess the explanations. But there is OVERWHELMING evidence currently, most importantly from radioactivity dating methods, that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old. Human life (homo sapiens) is dated to be quiet recent- nearing 200,000 years. |

From Bible chronology, although different groups will differ slightly by a few years, the currently accepted date was calculated by Bishop James Ussher (1581-1656) who calculated the creation to have happened in 4004 BC.
