By removing a CMOS battery, you clear it and the default BIOS Settings are loaded in your CMOS. That means the extreme settings are the default ones and you should be able to change it in BIOS Setup.

only way to remove the splash is to use a different bios not a upgrade nor downgrade but a complete different manufacturer. That means you need another mobo

look in your BIOS and look for the splash screen on or off. Boot up logo or whatever it's called in the CMOS. See if there are different splash screens (Extreme Logo, Normal P4) which I haven't seen in my life. Lol. If it's that than it's just a default splash screen. Also check on CPU Z if you really have an Extreme. And before you resetted your BIOS, did it have a splash screen? If not than...

its just a default splash screen. You can always turn the splash screen off it's impossible to have no setting in the BIOS to turn it off. Look in the boot settings properly.

what does cpu-z show it as. joudoos?(dadiggle or what ever) the reason for downgrading the bios is that somtimes i bios can remove recognition for a cpu to make room for new 1s. so when an older 1 is pluged it it may be missread. simple realy nothing to do with splash screens. maybe if you read my reply instead of daddigling my reply (the guy cant read/comprihend propperly) you would know this.

most bios's will have an option for quick boot this dissables the mem test and splash screen at the same time. if there is sumthing similar it will be in advanced bios menu.
