nah id rather chat about todays hardware as its more relivant. i have forgot most of what i know about old hardware to make room for new.

we have it so easy today , remember when overclocking was a nightmare . sometimes soldering bridges onto hardware etc . now days its a peace of pi*s any muppet can do it .

you think thats bad taktix. try rewriting an eprom and piggybacking it onto the flopy drives controler chip without damaging both... lols the atari 1050 disk drive had a capacity of 360KB when a doubler was used, meaning 10 games per disk... 10 games on a 360KB disk

then there was the drives mechanical whiring... it sounded like a jack hammer till you opend it and put lube on the sliders. but gone are the days when such things could be done by yer average enthusiast... gone are the days when you could write directly to the disk and change a games programming. cracking games to impliment cheats was much easyer then 2

i started with win 95 and dos games. Doom 95 was the ish... then quake... atleast my ibm 486dx could plough thru those games. now my pc can barely play new stuff. ooh and i had a massive 512mb hard drive. wait till i upgraded from a 486dx to a pentium1 100mhz and 1gig hard drive. i was doing backflips and cartwheels i tell u

thats old skool jay . used to spend weeks trying to get that 1mhz overclock .

my first pc had a 10mb hardrive . which i thought i would never fill up . lol .

I started with DOS 6.22. I skipped Windows 3.11 and went to 95, than got 98, than got ME and than XP. Skipped Vista and got 7. I'd never use anything else except 7 now. Microsoft really did an outstanding job with 7.

I remember I created a post almost like this. The guy's who started with the earliest PC's was Jay with the ZX Spectrum and I with a 286 if I can recall right. But those days PC's were the 's**t'! It doesn't feel the same now. Well to me it feels a bit boring. Like playing Stunts that time I enjoyed more than playing Shift now. I was about 5 or 6 maybe thats why. Lol

nope my first computer was an atari 400 in 1979/1980 then zx81 then zx spectrum then compaque portable ??? then back 2 a spectrum 48k then on to atari 800xl atari 520st then amiga 500 then 1200 then a break from computing and a switch to consoles there are plenty on here that started b4 the 286 came about, and a fair few started with the 8080 cpu and i think a couple of users started b4 me

in my 30 years i could say i have spent around or in excess of 15 thousand pounds on computers and games... i think i may be an addict

i had one of the very first pc's in 1984 . had all those jay listed also .

i must have spent that sort of amount also more or less

yeah at rediculous prices 2 1.8 thousand pounds for a 4.7ghz cpu? my dad must have been mad. buying me that compaq. even second hand... i still have it at my mums... lol

before i got my pc for my 10th birthdsy i remember a texas instrument computer was my brothers , cant remember what it was though , must have been 8 years old.

and the real sad thing is , it still works
