hi guys im lookinf for some advice. im a 26 year old who lives in the uk. i fancy a complete career change and would love to start a Career in the IT field. however looking at the different courses out there there are loads and it is quite confusing. i was wondering therefore would any1 be able to help me as to which route, courses etc would be the most beneficial. i would ideally like to become |

a computer technician. fixing PC's etc for people. however i am open to other ideas people may have. any advice would be more than welcome! :)

no ashken comp sci is completly the wrong direction for a computer tech. Best advice I can give is to check out local colleges see if they do any sort of maintenance courses. Failing that try to get an appointment with a carrers advisor at a local job center or citizens advice

collage and uni are a way to go but i would look into a part time job at a pc shop or similar.

Oracle is database management system. Comptia is a computer hardware certification course.

Cisco courses such as CCNA, CCNP and CCIE are good certification courses provided u're interested in networking, and combining it with a IT(information technology) degree makes u a hot cake in the IT industry. The good thing is u could study for the IT degree and collect those Cisco certifications at the same time, more like killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

Most of the guys i know of who did a mathematics degree took up database-related courses. You can study oracle has had been suggested. Or you can go down the cisco path. Start with CCNA then go to CCNP then there is the 3rd stage i don't really recall which will make you a hot cake.
