Hey Guyz..,My VLC Player is playing videos w'out da correct colour of elements in the imagea.Red is appearing blue as an example..other colours are not correct as well..how do I fix this?Other players are playing with correct colours..I have un-installed re-installed it bt its nt working a dime... |

Since this is an older post, were you perhaps watching a 10-bit h.264 video with VLC 1.1.11 which did not support it?

 Obligatory VLC bashing post: Holy **** it took forever for them to release a stable one with support and actual security patches for several critical holes leaving the average users in the quicksand while nightly users were enjoying all the versions in between 1.2 and 2.0... Okay so MPC-HC took a while to update their stable too, however that's normal for them and MPC-HC nightly is often recommended anyway once the stable one has become older than a few months or lacks new features.

GMP is my choice for videos... KMP is poor at rendering where GOM has the same rendering quality as VLC... You can easily compare the sharpness of HD videos with KMP vs GOM/VLC... I dont like VLC because of its instability even with its latest version and lacks some key features... GOM is simple, perfect and has everything needed....

i tried vlc,it has a nice habit of crashing when messing with the effects and filters for some time. and the interface ain't good. if i remmember right,it plays 'visualisations' in a window. its all garbled. smplayer for me,it plays anything and uses all the advanced features of mplayer plus,it adds an improved zoom feature,playlist. downside,the interface is not very stylish. but that depends on your windows theme,actually. it does the job for me anyway. no need for klite either.

Kmplayer replaced VLC ages ago for me. I only have vlc for the stubborn files that refuse to play on kmplayer

'The KMPlayer' project was sold a fair while back and PotPlayer is the new The KMPlayer. (Not that i like either.)

@edit.or: there hasn't been a need for K-Lite or any other codec packs for most things for a long time. MPC-HC with their own filterpack was always fine for most things. Something like FLAC downmixing would need to be done externally unless they've added that more recently. That's the only problem i've run into. And back when RMVB was still alive, real alternative was better than ffmpeg. But that was like in 2007. They added improved-enough support in 2008/2009.
