Hello, does anyone know what software is recommended for editing, splitting videos meant for a home production. I also want to be able to produce quite a few of these productions in a short time. As in maybe provide an audio of the event almost immediately after the event. Have to work with an aging video camera so anything that can perhaps enhance the audio and lighten/brighten up the clips after they are shot and on pc is required. Thank you |

avidemux, directmp3cut and audacity are good free tools to have in collection. they are all portable and while not support all the functions for home production, they are good for quick edits and can be pretty powerfull so to say, depending on your needs. you can get to them all from softpedia

adobe premier turned to be a very heavy software on my way below par system. I have audacity as its handy for removing noise on audio and format factory helps with extracting audio from the vids for podcasts. Can i rephrase my question to ask for authoring softwares. The intros one sees on channels. Want to try my hand at that. I will look into avidemux and directmp3cut. Sony vegas is heavy too. I know i need a powerful pc and planning on investing in one soon.

I have read that with convertxtodvd converting can take even 15mins. Mine takes about 1hr 30mins on a 2.8ghz Pentium 4. Ancient I know don't kill me for it. The intros fascinate me though and curious to reproduce unique intro to dvd's. while I'm at it, printers that can print on discs, which would you advice i invest in. Is the canon pixma ip7240?

I may just invest in high end Sony vegas or similar prog. My current production system is just a mess. I have to use countless apps countless times to achieve simple results. WLMM is not bad and i have used it before but that was just for a photo video adding soundtrack. In this case i'm working with about 20gigs of vid for just one DVD. Any on the fly encoding video apps?

if you look something cheap, maybe google cyberlink producer, i ve used something called like that in past that it came with a dvd drive. and it was pretty nice. though its still just a video editor but try out some cheap trial applications out there? and maybe you find something worth buying. try xmedia recode for simple encoding, thats also free.

features wise is what i'm looking at. As i'm dealing with simple AVI to DVD conversions and splitting and merging of audio plus removing noise the likes of Sony vegas are not so crucial at this moment but i will have to invest in such sooner or later whether I like it or not. Any thoughts on camtasia studio? Will check out cyberlink producer.

CyberLink PowerDirector, Windows Movie Maker, After-Effects. You can use different editors on one project to get your desired output.
