..it says on startup local disk is about to fail, pls backup all data...I used hdd regenerator, it fixed a lot of bad sectors..seems fine now, but once it had that problem, should I replace the hdd anyway, or will it last after the fix?....Ps, I don't get the message anymore... |

In short, if u recover the bad sectors, can the drive be trusted again? The fixing completed with all sectors recovered...can it be a virus, cos I shut down my pc properly everytime I use it..the message popped up suddenly, the laptop is 3 years old...

Bad sectors are never repaired they are just mapped out.

HDD's dont last long, your lucky to have re-masked the bad sectors but they are still there. BACKUP the drive, and go purchase a new one soon. if drive fails you can sometimes save it long enough for a backup, to do this you deep freeze the HDD then plug it in and run a backup right away
