Oh its a lost cause. Just like zimbabweans won't get mugabe out, we won't get the goverment to let loose of their stranglehold over our Communications industry. I think the real reason the goverment is exploiting their hand in telkom is so that they can make enough money to feed the poor. How else will they manage to feed a 60percent unemployed country. With taxpayers(middleclass) leaving en mass?

but down south u hav so many networks, and the gsm technology has been there since ages...we 1st had celtel in 1999...at call rates u guyz were having in 2004...then vodafone at the 4Q of 1999...

voda came with cheap tarrifs, but celtel had more customers and their service was efficient...and a management thing messed up celtel...people switched from celtel to vodafones safaricom...

wen celtel was sold to kuwaits mtc, the headquaters are now in nairobi from switzerland...they are now making life better...calls with celtel go for R1 per 8 minutes...and wen u topup above R8 u get a 50 percent bonus...

and that means R1 u get 16 minutes of talktime.....as for voda, they are just thieves, though n0w it has m0re customers, with R1 u just get two minutes but they are reviewing their prices s00n...

And with data u guys are being charged 2rands per mb, but we get 1.2rands per mb...and s00n just at 80rands per m0nth, wen the fibre 0ptic cable begins to work...

also mtn and voda charges r2 for a meg but charge contract guys 25c for same meg and that makes a profit so you imagine what margine they making at r2 1000

Just so you know. Vodacom charges R80 for 40MB - Where as Virgin Mobile South Africa charges R80 for 160MB
