..in a morgue if you earned 500 pounds a day? Is that too little? How about 1000 pounds a day would you still work there? |

Reminds me of a joke. Young fella gets a job in the mortuary cleaning up the bodies. On his first day there the corpse of a gorgeous 25 year old woman gets brought in. He does his job of cleaning her up but one thing puzzles him..he asks his boss 'Why has she got a prawn between her legs'? That's not a prawn you idiot, that's her c****ris his boss replies'! Oh says the new lad ..'it sure tastes like a prawn'! |

I like a good smell. A bakery, a coffee shop, that sort of thing. I don't mind picking people's bins up but those wagons stink. I couldn't be a binman. Oh and fishmonger, there's another. I've never been in a morgue. I'm sure most of the fresh ones aren't too bad, but some people stink when they're alive, can you imagine a few dozen maggot cases..? Imagine if one explodes... Nah, I'll stick with the smell of cut wood. |

Imagine if one explodes... Nah, I'll stick with the smell of cut wood. When I was 16 I had a summer job working on a maggot farm(supplying a fishing bait vending machine company*). The money was excellent but I only lasted a fortnight and it was the worst 2 weeks of my life, over 30yrs later and I am still slightly traumatised by the whole experience but particularly by the smell, which was so bad I am almost gagging just thinking about it now as I type this. * yes, they sold live maggots from refrigerated vending machines. |

We had one of those machines in MK, at a petrol station on the old A5 which has long gone.

It could well have been one of theirs, they were usually found at petrol stations close to popular fishing spots all over the country.

The smell had permeated into my skin, I was showering 2 or 3 times a day and scrubbing my skin with all sorts of stuff for weeks before I stopped being able to smell it on me, or at least before I stopped thinking that I could still smell it on me.

I remember it being a light blue display with a big beige-alike fish on it, but it was over 30yrs ago when I first started driving. Not half the city was built, then.
