it's not something people haven't known for decades now though. the catholic church shuffles it's priests off to new places once they had complaints. back then I can imagine the police just being unbelieving, ''he's a priest for God's sake''! now we all know it happens. I've heard a few times that in places like Ireland going back a long way, when a village local was found to be troubling youngsters they'd get shipped off somewhere where they could do no harm i.e. the church. that saved them from being beaten to death and gave them a lifetime to reflect... or not as it often turned out. |
