Anyone that thinks a UK gunboat is full of guns is a complete numpty and does not belong in office. It has one rifle and needs a couple of teams of sailors to bring ammunition from storage to the loading chamber.

Those 'gunboats'(a somewhat unofficial and rather colloquial term) are in fact the Royal Navy's River Class minehunter/offshore patrol boats, like the one pictured above and detailed further below.

But they never go around with a clip loaded in that rifle. And mines are not setting by a hatch waiting to be deployed either. If you have never been on an armed naval vessel, you ain't no expert.

Keeping the clip out is purely a safety measure during peacetime.. perhaps something being completely overlooked due to the aggressive nature of some countries..
