@ 9362 - 20.01.20 - 07:36pm Mlk day in America today. Wonder what he'd have achieved if he'd lived. Probably first black president but what else? Great man stood for moral principles which America desperately needs (like in public schools etc) Trump is sort of that but not quite moral himself MLK Jr. Would certainly make a great president of the people, if we're still alive. |

US President Donald Trump has decried climate ''prophets of doom'' in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where sustainability is the main theme. He called for a rejection of ''predictions of the apocalypse'' and said America would defend its economy. Environmental destruction is at the top of the agenda at the annual summit of the world's decision-makers, which takes place at a Swiss ski resort. In his keynote speech, Mr Trump said that it was a time for optimism, not pessimism, in a speech that touted his administration's economic achievements and America's energy boom. _ Meanwhile, ''The Department of Defense is precariously underprepared for the national security implications of climate change-induced global security challenges,'' a U.S. Army War College study has bluntly concluded. ''The projections are also worrisome for U.S. military operations overseas, where armed forces face extreme weather, sea level rise and the risk that diminishing water supplies, changing disease patterns or crop failures could destabilize a country,'' the Government Accountability Office wrote in a recent report to Congress. http://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6546169-War-College-2019-1.html |

@ mok214 - 21.01.20 - 07:11pm The Army War College is not part of the Department of Defense, just another think tank from the military/industrial complex that President Eisenhower warned the world about. Nobody said it was part of the DoD but it is a respected institution highly regarded by many in the US military establishment. I guess you must have believed Cadet Bonespurs when he said that he knows ''more than the Generals'' and how he ''knows how to do the military better than anyone''. |

No one in the US Military appreciates the Army War College, it's pretty much the West Point Alumni Protective Association. |
