All the 1070's perform about the same . The zotac is a beast much like my Asus strix ,big and heavy but boosted to 2ghz and beyond as its factory clocked . Think it's the fastest out of the box 1070

The Gigabyte xtreme looks to have the fastest claimed clocks out of the box but it seems all of the cards that are claimed 1800mhz+ boost end up boosting much higher and about the same performance. The Zotac extreme is really far too big for what is supposed to be just a 150 watt card but nevermind it's the trend. Means that you end up with a near silent card even at full load as the cooler is such overkill. 2.5 slots. Jeez. It also has 2x 8pin connectors, again, ridiculous overkill for what it really needs.

@ alvar89 - 19.09.16 - 09:18am Nice system! It will be a great experience. Really rewarding. Thanks. Did go a bit over budget but decided that was better than upgrading parts over time. The case is a nightmare to work with for accessing cooling, but with what I wanted to spend on it (about the only thing I didn't change from original planning) it was the only 1 I liked the look of. |

One major thing i regrett is not getting a modular psu. It was a pain hiding all the cables behind the motherboard. Will get a modular higher efficieny one soon to replace it because its 4 years old and think its safe to replace it before it dies taking other components with it. |

Good thing about the phantom case is it has plenty of room behind the mb for cables

Update: I7 3770k 4.2ghz, 16gb Kingston HyperX Beast, 250gb Samsung 850 EVO, 2tb of hdd space, Corsair TX750 PSU, Corsair h80i cooler and the new Asus Rog Strix OC GTX 1070. Samsung 4k 60hz monitor. All other components will still be great no need to rush to upgrade. Will also change the psu to a higher quality modular one soon to tidy up the cables.

Do you have the stock fans for that corsair what is the noise like? I have a Nepton 280L but as soon as I heard it running with the terrible coolermaster fans I ditched them for two 140mm Noctua NF-A14 Industrials to match the pair I have in the roof of my case. The Noctuas are stunningly good. I only have a pair to push on the 280mm radiator but it's more than enough. Idle temps of my CPU are just a couple degrees above ambient, 20 celcius or so. Full load is typically 50.
