i was hoping to format my mates laptop and do i fresh install , simple enough i thort but 2 days later i still cant get it to work, tried 4 different win 7 dvds and every time after reboot it freezes on the completing installation , its always at the same point no matter which win 7 i use , any ideas ? |

sounds like a bad hard drive! A sector isn't reading properly once install is complete. Sometimes win7 detects the hd is bad but not always. Explain further please!

you could try downloading PARTED MAGIC (FREE) and running the disc check features!

Mybe u r laptop hardwares r not compatible. try xp and see if its freezes.

try to partition the harddrive and then load windows on the second partition.

What a.psycho said. Partitioning the drive and installing on the second might work to install win 7, but you will still need to sort out the problem with bad sectors (if that is the problem) afterwards.

partitioning? windows will freez as usual cause u r still using the same hd. run chckdsk utility first.
