Does the PC boot if all HDD's are installed and you boot into the OS that is on HDD 2?

I would guess that adding the 3rd drive mixes up the letters assigned to the drives.

if all drives r installed, and i boot on HD2 OS, HD1 is not detected once logged on. got lucky once, when all drives were installed and it booted (on HD1 OS) HD3 did not appear in My computer, but the taskbar notified that drivers for HD3 were being installed.they installed correctly, but still, HD3 did not appear in My Computer. did a reboot, but all luck ran out, culdnt get all drives to be detected

in bios try detecting connected drives if they are present then chances are high windows will display them. If windows loads and one of them is missing launch disk management you should be able to allocate the new drive a new letter manually

You can't and don't need to set SATA drives to slave.
