Who the fu*k is playing at 1080p anymore ![]() |

Apparently everyone on steam. 1080p was used to shift focus on CPU performance. It still gets tonked in 1440p on a whole bunch of games despite at that resolution the GPU performance is more prominent. Something about who buys quads? Well anyone who wants to game. 6700 and 7700k destroy all. It barely matters how many extra threads you try and throw at modern games as the tests demonstrate.... |

If you want to do more than gaming you dont buy a quad core cpu . You just dont . And 1080p in 2017 is just r*tarded

43 percent of steam gamers are r*tarded then. And about 90 percent with 4 cores or less. The benchmarks simply do not lie. Rage all you want. Facts are facts. 4 threads is enough. 8 is plenty. |

It never was made to compete against the quads rather x99 chips in cost to performance and was oriented towards the heavy users. It beats the 6900k in price to performance and we all should be happy amd is back so intel can stop raising there prices for minimum performance upgrades. The 7700k cost 420 euros here compared to the 4770k that was 300 eur. It kept on rising and the higer end market got a 10 core for almost double the price of a 8 core. I really hope ryzen competes with the 6 core also so we wont be stuck on the upcoming consumer 6 cores for another 10 years like the quads were. x99 had loads of issues also and fails to compete against the quads in gaming and that is fine just like with the ryzen. They will get troubleshooted and fixed on the heavy user market and propably will work alot better when the 6 cores come etc. |

The higher clocks ofcourse give them the edge on higher refreshrate but how many ppl run on such high fps? ppl will stick to cheap 1080p or go for the higher resolution monitors instead of 144hz panels. |

The problem is as I stated. Even with the highest clocks and all that cache and extra threads Ryzen doesn't win. I specifically compared the very fastest clocked model the 1800x. It's just not good enough. The quads are not going to be faster.

Even if there optimized and fall a little bit under they will beat intel quads with the price. Imagine the cost of the 6 core ryzen already. If they get there chip optimized then the larger and faster cache will also make up for less clockspeed. |

Well your second problem is they are also probably 6 months away. Ryzen just doesn't look like a competitive gaming architecture. It looks like best case scenario the low end quads could be decent against the low end i5s if they are priced accordingly. But chances Kaby Lake will overclock better going from what we know of how poorly the 8 core Ryzens do relative to 6900k. |
