I keep getting app update notifications but when I enter the play store and attempt to update the apps with available updates it just says 'downloading' and then nothing happens, the scrolling bar thingy keeps scrolling continuously but nothing else. A mate advised that I should uninstall updates for my Google Play Store and Google Play Services apps and then reboot my phone and they should update themselves automatically and solve the issue. So I did that but they haven't updated after several reboots. Now several apps, including youtube, won't work at all. ![]() ![]() |

Eventually it gives up trying to download the updates and says 'Updates could not be downloaded due to an error.(495)'. ![]() ![]() |

I've had no problem updating apps in the past, just in the last few days.

you could try clearing the data on the playstore app (from settings).. I've had this in the past myself, but I've no idea how I resolved it...

do you use a firewall by any chance ? most ppl who do run into this problem until they know all the apps they must whitelist.. |

Sorry mel, there are two year olds with more tech savvy than I. What is a firewall exactly or a whitelist for that matter? Unless whatever it is came pre-installed on the phone then i'd guess not.

Yes, I've had it for ages and it's still installed. Actually it's one of the apps that wants updating.

@ pryerlee - 4.07.14 - 09:11am Troubleshooting steps: Check your data connection Make sure Download Manager is turned on Check your device's available storage Clear cache data Reinstall Play Store updates Check for system updates Yes I went to Google help before posting here. No signal problems, plenty of memory left, cache been cleared, no new system updates available. How do I re-install playstore updates when it won't let me update at all? It's not just updates, can't download anything from the playstore. |

I would try unistalling the AVG anti-virus first then see if that works, to be honest you don't really need an antivirus for android phones as its a completely different OS for a PC but then that's your choice, i personally don't have one and I've never had one vurus and I've probably installed hundreds of applications.

I'll try that. I've been told I don't need it before but it does occasionally say it has picked up something dodgy from pics i've downloaded ![]() |

@ pryerlee - 4.07.14 - 09:14am Ok read this guide http://androidpit.com/google-play-not-working The only thing I've not tried on that list is the factory reset which i'm reluctant to do. |

Yeah i wouldn't do a factory reset as you'll lose everything you've installed.
