Yet another update with new bugs. Then an update to fix the bugs and another update to fix the bugs in the new update?! How we waste our time with pointless pursuits? I thought life was short enough already? Lol

I think Google should skip next year's updates to force OEM's to update to nougat, either that or take over the updates from them

@ leon29 - 26.08.16 - 06:05pm I think Google should skip next year's updates to force OEM's to update to nougat, either that or take over the updates from them they can't do the latter because proprietary firmware drivers are needed to make cameras speakers pens screens and modems work. a pure google rom is about 600mb's whereas an OEM one can be 2.5gb's. imagine the headache of being responsible for every device ever made... |

@ crail - 27.08.16 - 06:17pm Apparently the note 4 is getting nougat ![]() Through custom ROMs? From what I have read, the only Samsungs getting Nougat are everything in and after the S6 Family. So S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Note5, S7, S7 Edge and Note7. The Note4 is now well over 18months old, so the chances it will get Nougat Officially from Samsung are slim, even though both the Snapdragon 805 and Exynos5433 can handle it. I'd be glad if I am wrong, but I have my doubts. I'm sure it will continue to get Security Updates until late next year though, and thats what matters. |

@ polo_011 - 27.08.16 - 11:07pm Phones with Snapdragon 800 and 801 will not get Android Nougat Officially even unofficial builds will be lacking (as I'm sure you know) the vulkan api because Qualcomm aren't going to release it. no dev is going to be able to write drivers for it so we'll get something half baked instead. |

Maybe I'll get a note 7 when it's cheap |

@ crail - 28.08.16 - 03:50am Yeah, I read it wrong. Damn mofo. Maybe I'll get a note 7 when it's cheap get an S7 and go AOSP with it, the note 7 still has issues that you'd be reluctant to fix at the sacrifice of functionality. |

As far as I understand 800 and 801 based devices wont get nouget cos they dont support the vulcan api but the 805 does which could mean the snapdragon Note 4 maybe in for a chance in getting android 7. and although its been around for a while its still in the shops in europe all over the place, both sim free and on contract.

THIS could possibly guarantee Nougat for the Note 4! But remember, the S6 Edge Plus was basically the Note replacement there. Hmmm.... Time will tell I guess. |

http://www.androidauthority.com/android-7-0-snapdragon-800-801-712930/ if Gary's theory holds true the note 4 is good to go and the only reason why there's any issue at all is down to google screw*ng around with file encryption in 7.0
