Great band/collective/project. I don't think the animation does much for the music other give Albarn and his collaborators something to hide behind. And yes, both albums are great, statements but also not afraid to show their pop side.

so much MORE than just a band. Albarn n Hewitt, wot a combo. Journey West - inspired. oh n if u aint u gotta get the other 3 gorillaz albums besides gorillaz and Demon Days. dvd's tops 2. Man flesh eating zombies the lot ov ya, where's Murdoc 2 save the day?

damon albarn has produced some of the best music of the last 15-20 years, blur, gorillaz or the good the bad and the queen, the man has such a diverse knowledge and taste that its quite impossible 2 go wrong

There was a discussion recently on The Void because someone had compared Albarn to Bowie, and there was lots of animosity towards Damien, probably as result of the Oasis/Blur thing, but although I wouldn't put him on a par with the Thin White Duke, he's certainly worthy of being mentioned in the same breath.

I'm wondering what'll happen if Blur do decide to work on new material after the live dates, because I think Albarn will find the guitar/bass/drums format a bit limiting unless they turn into Radiohead or Muse, and let's face it, if doesn't have the vocal range for either. If it all gets too left-field or electronic it'll be seen as 'Damiens Project', like he's trying to turn Blur into

Yeah, thas the difficult part. If you have two or more bands, you always have to be careful of the musical styles u use. U dont wana go makin 1 bands music soundin like the otha...u need ta remember wot u can n cannot compose...

 Yeah, that's why I think even with c0xons input he's going to feel constrained by the format (much as I love Blur) so let's hope there's an outpouring of spare creativity into a new Gorillaz album later this year - and we've got the new Massive Attack album to look forward to in September, yay!
