Wow, hard to believe that title got asterisked  . To be honest I don't think anything comes close to Kind of Blue, but ESP from '65 is good, from his '80s period I'd recommend 'Decoy' over the better-known 'Tutu', but avoid Sketches of Spain which I think is dreadful (although some critics like it).

@9362, the solution for you is the ''The Complete Columbia Album Collection'' boxset. A great limited box with 52 albums on 70 CDs in mini LP replica packagings. In the box you'll find a 250 page color book with essays, rare photographs and memorabilia, plus 1 DVD with a live.

Yeah it looks fantastic  . But I stand by what I said about Sketches, I've actually got it, having heard it round a friends many years ago in an 'altered state' :) Just because the critics like it doesn't mean I have to.. *laughs*

''Birth Of The Cool'' is a very classic Davis_and Jazz_album. I think it was the 1st Davis album i bought. As for the boxset, the pics are taken by a friend of mine, he bought it 1 week ago from eBay, a guy was selling it 238 dollars, and my friend offered him 80 dollars.....and he bought it!  It was new and sealed. What an idiot this seller!!! 80 dollars for this masterpiece is nothing!

If your mate bought it off ebay it probably IS full of Westlife albums.. . Does he replace the albums in the box in date order? I'm terrible for that sort of thing, I've got Jethro Tull filed under 'T' (Tull, Jethro) 'cos I can never decide if it's a proper name or not (it is and it isn't), and where I've got more than one album by an artist they go left to right, earliest to latest.

My albums/artists in the shelves are mainly in genre order. By cataloging the artists just by the letter order, you can mix many genres and this is cr*p (Deep Purple and DeFrancesco, Joy and Dixon, Willie and Donaldson, Lou in the same row?...) I have the artists in this order only in my Music Collector program, but with this program you can put the artists/albums in hundreds different orders...

...by Name (A - Z or Z - A), by release date, by recording date, by format, by genre, by label, by purchase date/price, by album's length, by composer, by producer, by packaging, by, by, by..... [IMG]http://img02.picoodle.com/img/img02/7/2/13/f_bottlem_88b4ef7.gif'/> Of course you can mix all these and make crazy orders/list ''trees'' like Genre/Artist/Format/Release Year/Label etc...Superb program, i use it since 2003 and i cant think to have my collection without this.
