Don't really like the feel of cd decks, prefer manually dropping in vinyl. I do most of my mixing digitally tho using my pc and an AKAI APC 40

Vinyl is the best for sound, but limits your record box as it's too heavy to carry a lot of tunes with you. Bet you wouldn't have the 1st clue how to mix properly stratboy

why is it sad they have gone to using cds/digital files, almost all EDM is produced digitally so why play back on a non-digital format

It doesnt matter to me. Vinyl feels gr8. I'm a vinyl junkie all the way but i'm nt necessarily against cdj's. Theyre cool if u want 2 mega mix n use 3 or 4 decks. Classic mixing is all on vinyl 4 me, as it really tests ur ability technicaly as a dj. Even sum dj schools in in still start off theis students on vinyl b4 moving 2 cdj's. The Soul Candi Music Institute is 1 of them.

I meant Even sum dj schools in S.A still start off their students on vinyl b4 moving 2 cdj's. The dj course at the Soul Candi Music Institute does that as well as FUSE Acedemy (dj school 4 females).

what can you technically do on a vinyl deck that you can't on cdjs?

The slightest wrong touch on a vinyl can send the song off que and off pitch. The degree of difficulty playn on vinyl is more than u get on cdj's, which makes it more challenging in my opinion. If u cn play on vinyl, u can play on anythn, but its nt the same the other way round.

Its nt about wat u cant or can do on both formats because u can mix with both, which is the point of them all. For me its about degree of difficulty. Give a guy who has only played on cd a pair of turntable and i swear he wil struggle on vinyl, but giv a guy who started on vinyl a pair of cdj's and he'll excel. I've seen it, although it may not b true 4 every1, but in my experience, djs who started on vinyl hav always bn better with their mixing n timing when it comes to blending tracks.

Im not against cdjs as i wuld also like to buy a pair but its jus too easy to play on them. They are advantagious if u mixing songs in quick succession which is wat i want them for.

the slightest wrong touch could eject the cd, chose the wrong cue point...so don't agree with that point, plus shouldn't be that cack handed...only thing i can think of that you can do with vinyl is get everybody to jump up and down like fk and see if the vibrations make it skip

@jpdv | 4 July 10 |
oh and also you can set fire to the vinyl so it warps and crackles like fk, i forget which dj used to love doing that at the end of the night but one did

I wuld lyk a pair of Technics 1210xl's and a pair of pioneer cdj1000's, my dream set. But at the end of the day it doesnt really matter what u play on, if u cant dj...wel u cant dj regardless of the equipment.

Whether vinyl or cdj's are better is jus a matter of preference and opinion.
