Not sure about the Pro, but on my Touch Dual I've noticed that it'll recognise tones from the memory card only if they're not put in any folder or subfolder - in other words those that you save to the root of your storage card. I don't know why this is, but trial and error has led me to this conclusion.

Why do you want ringtones on a storage card? Access to the memory card is slower than the internal memory but if you wish you could keep all your own ringtones in Storage Card/My Documents
