They don't plan to land them though. Just fly there, do a few orbits and fly back again. Dunno about you but if i'd travelled all that way i'd be pretty p*ssed off if I couldn't actually land when I got there.

If they set off when planned in 2018, it's a 501 day round trip. If it's not delayed, which it almost certainly would be if it ever even happens, Mars will be at it's closest to Earth when/if they get there. If they miss the proposed launch window, Mars will start getting further away again, increasing the journey time considerably.
