I've been thinking about going on a little expedition up mount snowden this summer. I've been getting my camping gear ready and I've had to step everything up to be able to cope with the extreme weather and conditions that will be present. I got a new sleeping bag recently and it's soo cosy and warm. It's rated to go down to -8 deg C comfortably and an absolute maximum of -29 deg C. Also a lot of other stuff like thicker clothes, upgrading my first aid kit and buying smaller lighter cooking equipment and a new lighter rucksack. I'm gonna buy a mountaineering tent soon which is so strong it can cope with the strongest winds you can imagine. |

Can you camp on snowdon? I cant think of any suitable place to pitch a tent on the actual mountain.

Be careful when wandering about on snowdon dear , i live near there , lots of people misjudge the possible dangers out there |

I think you can camp lower down. I've got water resistant bags to keep stuff dry so phone won't be getting wet. my navigation equipment. Is a compass and ordinance survey map so not relying on google maps.

Is a compass and ordinance survey map so not relying on google maps. Ive just read up about it, suitable places are either camp sites at the bottom or private land where you need land owners permission and you cant light fires etc. I'd go for a camp site. And like someone mentioned, snowdon can be dangerous. I'd recommend going up the pyg track and down the miners track, avoid crib goch unless youre an experienced climber ![]() |

Crib coch is indeed extremely dangerous , its like three feet wide ridge with drops of over 1000 ft on each side , the cloud cover can makes it hell to navigate , once was enough for me

Whenever I've done snowdon I've stayed at Betws Y Coed or Capel Curig pw, don't go alone, go with someone who knows what they're doing, and all very well having a map and compass but can u even orientate a map with a compass ?
