Assuming you have/had one.. Is it outdated now, what with things like Spotify etc? Would you get rid of them all, keep some, or keep the lot? I've been eyeing up my music collection, and the space it takes up, and considering clearing the lot out. |

I have 1000s, i started collecting them when i was around 12. i never listen to them but do still buy them. I have a ipod now so why i still buy em i don't know.

Nope. I'm still adding to it. I know someone who recently sold off a kick-arse metal collection to just stick with their digital formats. But I couldn't do it. Interestingly enough, my 14 year old daughter has developed a serious interest in music lately and just loves to buy cds and records, even though she has downloaded most of it beforehand, anyway. |

Yesterday I'd have taken the lot to a charity shop, but today I'm swaying back to the idea that they aren't taking up too much room, so maybe I'll keep them.

we got rid of a load of cds few years ago, top tip do not sell to music magpie you will get next to nothing for them, 400 cds they offered  8.60 so gave them to a charity shop in the end. still got thousands got an 8 feet tall cd rack behind the telly, and massive stack on the window sill in the bedroom and 70 or so in the car.

got a 6cd changer in the car so thats the only reason i buy cds. at home i listen to mp3s on the plystation

It's something about holding them in your hands, the artwork, the memories. All the little details. I've had to sell off my collection before, when I was really really broke as a teen. And that's the only time I'd consider it now, if it was the last thing I had left to sell. |

On two occasions over the years I've got rid of CDs I don't listen to. I take them to work and give them to the students at college for free. I still have a largish collection of CDs packed away in boxes now. Most of my music is converted to MP3 from all the CDs I've owned or purchased downloads. I have about 20,000 mp3s now

It'll be weird in the future when nobody has a collection anymore. I always like looking through people's music (and books) to get an idea about them. |
