An Australian woman has been shot dead by police in Minneapolis, after she called them to report hearing noises in the alleyway next to her house. Serious questions are being asked after it emerged that neither of the attending officer's bodycams or their car's dashcam were turned on. Police bodycams were made mandatory in the state following the fatal shooting of Philando Castille by Minneapolis police officers last year. http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-17/australian-woman-shot-dead-by-police-in-minneapolis/8714330 |

The popo do a hard job in difficult circumstances, especially in the usa of american where many ppl are armed. To take a chance could be their last mistake so you can't blame them for being a bit trigger happy

I can, there's no good excuse for ending an innocent persons life whatsoever. it is a tough job but they're given bad training according some ex cops. an if in doubt mentality isn't good enough. if you're taking someone's life you better have no doubt at all. |

She called them, she trusted them to help. They turned up like the jumped-up U.S police are known for and shot at a target when they clearly didn't know what it was. The U.S police are conts. They're considered internationally to be conts. They shoot fkn anything that moves. They have a particular like of dogs, from 15ft away, which tend not to be armed... And they're trained to be like that. The police there are actually trained to have the attitude that everything is a worthy target. The law and order there is fkd. But in reflection of what cleancut said - when random members of the public are armed, WTF do they expect...?! |

The skin colour of the cop, or the victim for that matter, is irrelevant. It's still bad. Turns out the victim was talking to the other cop through the drivers window, when his partner drew his gun and shot her from the passenger seat. Reportedly the victims phone was found on the ground near where she was shot and that this is being taken as an indication that the cop could have mistaken it for a gun. Which sounds like a ready made 'get out of jail free' excuse to me.

The police should consider using nonlethal initial firing caps on their weapons, a hit from one would be pretty immobilising, freeing up the weapon for further lethal shots if required.

@ eyesore - 18.07.17 - 07:17am It's easy to determine innocence after the fact if you haven't seen any crime committed aren't we supposed to consider everyone innocent until proven guilty ? |
