They're basically a type of prawn/shrimp. NASA discovered them living 600ft below an ice shelf in Antarctica, whilst researching extremophiles living in the types of extreme conditions that can be found on other planets and may be capable of supporting life there.

Bizarrely the ones NASA found under the Antarctic ice were said to be upto 3 inches long, so significantly larger than the ones that shadow reports were knawing on this Aussie chaps legs. The scientists involved said they weren't expecting to find any complex organisms like this, that far under the ice. Raising the possibility that there could be alien prawn like creatures swimming around in the oceans under the ice on places like Jupiter's moon Europa.

If you think about it being in ice will stunt their growth but out of the ice they can now grow and evolve according to their habitat how all things evolve. Creatures have a habit of evolving according to the environment.

It's just a defense mechanism for stupid ignorant folk like dodgey, who feel threatened by intelligence and show disdain for facts, either because they're too thick to understand things for themselves or because more often than not it proves what they thought was correct is actually wrong, or both. It's what Trump and his followers do, anything they don't like is wrong and 'fake news', even when the actual verifiable facts show and prove otherwise.
