Also reading 'The Great Influenza' by John M.Barry.. ''In the winter of 1918, at the height of WWI, history's most lethal influenza virus erupted in an army camp in Kansas, moved east with American troops, then exploded, killing as many as 100 million people worldwide. It killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS killed in 24 years, more in a year than the Black Death killed in a century.''  The most interesting part so far is learning how backward all the American medical schools were back in the day, before they started emulating the Europeans. Just about anyone could be a doctor, there were no real standards in place. |

There's similar reference to troop camps in France ,thought to be caught from catching chickens to eat ..in fact there are some samples stored in America somewhere  Anyhoo...happy birthday shads :) |
