A restaurant owner has a job available,he asks all applicants to enclose a picture if themselves. Do you think this is acceptable? Couldn't it be a way of him avoiding hiring people he has a prejudice against? |

When asked about what he requested he replied '' I'm not trying to fk them,I just want them to carry plates''. So why ask for a pic then? |

To see if they look presentable and professional most likely.

I don't think anyone applying who sends a pic would enclose a bad one tbh.

I've walked past some small cafe restaurants where every server was like a model. maybe that sucks as a reason to not get a job ? |

Yes, it could create a massive bias. He could be looking for pretty girls or whether someone was black/white, but he could also easily claim it's just for identification or to see if they have a professional appearance. Your photo ID is required in many circumstances while applying for a job. I would enclose a picture if that's a requirement. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't apply. Big deal?! There's probably laws to prevent him from misusing the pictures and/or the applications negatively. |

if I get turned down for a job because my interviewer and potential line manager / supervisor was a racist, I've just had the good fortune not to be stuck working for a complete prick.

@ 3mel - 29.10.19 - 07:34pm if I get turned down for a job because my interviewer and potential line manager / supervisor was a racist, I've just had the good fortune not to be stuck working for a complete prick. Indeed. Yet If it happened over and over again you might get a bit cheesed off with it. |
