The legendary keeper of Hercules the Bear has died with plans being made to bury him next to the animal he adored. Andy Robin, of Auchterarder in Perthshire, has died at the age of 84 with his wife Maggie saying her heart has been ripped out by the loss of her husband. Mrs Robin, who raised Hercules with her husband at their pub, The Sheriffmuir Inn near Dunblane, said she was devastated at the loss of a husband, who had been in poor health after suffering a stroke six years ago |

Someone who is stupid enough to cuddle bears and let them into his home is lucky to make it to 84

Okay, well this one's different... I don't wish to go deep into the debate on whether keeping animals as pets is right or wrong, but to say I don't think it matters much what animal it is. Perhaps the only exception are cats, as they are still free. My sister has horses, they seem happy enough, but I stay out of it. I got gerbils because the brat wanted them, that was a bit of a mistake tbh. This guy had a bear. And a pub. And a fit wife. I kinda like him. |

@ dodgey - 6.12.19 - 07:45pm Someone who is stupid enough to cuddle bears and let them into his home is lucky to make it to 84 if you raise a hunting species of animal from a very young age it won't attack you or other animals that live with you, assuming you're good to it and it loves you. there's thousands of videos and dozens of channels that prove it out there. the lion whisperer http://youtu.be/nzru_zjaTis |

That bear was obviously drugged which is why it was so docile and didn't attack him. |

I guess it must come down to having reared it by hand. admittedly I was only thinking of mammals in my head, reptiles are stupid pets. bears are quite intelligent, it doesn't have to be drugged so that it's not attacking you. there's a wonderful channel on youtube about a guy who turned his home into a bear sanctuary. all the bears clearly loved the guy and his wife and perk up when he arrived and slobber all over him. if they'd been drugged they'd be lying pretty motionless http://youtu.be/J184FmCiuLk |

Bears aren't meant to be kept as pets lol, even if you completely tamed one (which is impossible) it could still kill you even if it was playing and not meaning to. That is a strange American couple of hillbillies who have obviously drugged bears to try and get some fame, one day we will see a news report that the drugs wore off on a bear and one or both of them have been ripped to pieces.

Same as people who adopt tigers. You can raise them well and be kind but a wild animal can go mad in captivity. Also the case of the woman who owned a chimp and it attacked her friend. Took her face off. |

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I will add these aren't pets. |

Also the case of the woman who owned a chimp and it attacked her friend. Took her face off. A pet cat plays and scratches and gently bites, a tiger would do the same but the consequences would be more severe lol, they have zoos in Thailand that people can sit with a tiger and have a photo taken with it and stroke it, its chained up and drugged to the eyeballs which is why I declined the offer of having one of those photos. Some dogs as well, pitbulls that have had generations of being pets can all of a sudden turn on an owner. No animal is perfectly safe. |

A friend of mine here has a pet monkey and it's an annoying thing that pulls hair and runs around the house wild.

Seen Monkey Life a few times. I like the show. Yeah chimps are cute when young but they are several times stronger than a man later in life. I've read of a few chimp attacks. When they attack a man they go for his eyes, test*cles and often they bite his thumbs off. |
