I was with a couple of mates on one's driveway once, he was fixing a subwoofer or something and we were standing around chatting. We were in our 20s. Then a female friend was walking past, and stopped for a chat. She responded to greetings by saying she wasn't good atm. ''What's wrong, Chloe?'' said Mark ''My dad's died'' she said ''Oh. That's a bit of a killer, innit'' said Mark It was immediately apparent that; A) Mark really fancied her, and B) he'd really really said the wrong thing. Goeff and myself struggled hard to contain ourselves. We just stood looking at the subwoofer, holding our breath. I was having a kinda silent, standing fit. The silence was deafening. Mark stood there wanting to die, and Chloe seemed to realise that Goeff and myself weren't in a fit state for conversation, so she said bye for now and left.. You can hold it in. Inappropriate laughter. But you can't hide it. |
