Just heard on the news that heavy rain caused problems due to the coal getting wet... Where do they keep/store their coal, they're not learning from years past, surely a decent tarpaulin sheet or few should do the job!!! |

I don't know about where you live, but if you want an efficient coal power plant that doesn't rain acid everywhere, China needs to take note, you have to crush the coal to a fine texture and then burn it. So if that crushed coal does get wet it retains water just like sand does. |

I get the feeling that they are trying to make us all equal.... everyone living in squalor with no power or water.... fu*k knows because upliftment isn't on the agenda.

@ kipling - 14.01.20 - 04:52pm You must be from a 3rd world ..coal to power power plants Not coal to burn to light the stove, etc.. where there's 'paraffin' for that (rural communities) Coal is abundant and easy to mine here.. so makes sense using a large chunk of our reserves to bring power to the masses. (Nuclear option not safe enough, though we have all the uranium for that) We have Sasol which derives petroleum from coal (which makes it possible for us to survive a crude oil holocaust) |

So if that crushed coal does get wet it retains water just like sand does. But they mix it with petcoke so grinding it would be pointless. |
