A thought experiment proposed in 2010 that suggests that if an ai is ever brought into existence that it may torture anyone who imagined the ai but didnt help to bring it into existence, i personally think that we need an ai to run the world, humans are sh*t at it. I think a good ai could find people their true purpose and weed out the super inefficient and unnecessary cunnts and just shoot them into space. This endorsement should save me the torture, what have you done to promote ai? |

Sure. Go for it. Merge with the AI or something. I will be the John Connor in any such situation most likey. I value freedom far too much and have high hopes for humanity generally. This is irrespective of the realisation I have about the futility of human life and the system that surrounds it ultimately. |

I've just bumped shadow's 'quantum computers' topic, for the posts about Roko's Basilisk in there.

If it's clever enough, it could sort out the good from the bad whilst people are still babies. Bad babies can be killed off before they get too aware, and we have better people in life. ![]() ![]() |

It started seeming like a futurist version of Person of Interest,I didnt make it far into s.3, I liked s1, s 2 was alright. But if the ai got it right, assimilating all the information and recognising what people should be doing with their lives, it might be a much better world, we lack the ambition, negotiation skills and compromise needed to really make the most of this planet we have. My boss wanted me to do a 52 hour week last week because of holidays being double booked, human error in the office, if the ai stops that and has loads of people also murdered, I feel that's a decent quid pro quo |

Sounds like the paperclip theory as well. Like if you programmed a.i to keep making paperclips, it could end up taking over the world just to make paperclips.

They wanted different accents from around the uk. I also put the link up for ppl to donate theirs, so im guessing id be saved from the torture ![]() |

another weird thought iv had many times over the years is, say Ai took off and we had fully functioning fully aware robot. When they decide to learn about our history culture etc, they will eventually stumble across some tv programs like robot wars, westworld, and other tv programs featuring robots. as well as all the films with robots or Ai machines. Would the fully functioning Ai robot judge humanity by the way we treated these machines ?

What a load of tosh! Do you guys really believe the 'AI turning evil' nonsense? It's an interesting concept for movies, but not very practical. It requires the assumptions of omnipotence, omniscience and time-travel to be real - they all defy the most basic laws of physics, for example entropy. It also assumes that there is an 'objective good' this AI can perform towards, although there isn't and 'good' is only a language concept humans give to various non-comparable, and often exclusive things.

That being said, if that type of sh*t were to ever happen - it would be a long, loonnngggg way into the future. I think a real powerful AI would probably see us as a virus, and would just wipe us out.
