The history is despite the Jews being Gods Chosen Ones they were having a pretty horrible time of it so Isaiah was commissioned to come up with some feel good prophecies to give a sense of optimism for the future. Also this was the time that back story and history of Satan became filled out into the personification of evil rather than just some guy who first turns up in the old testament scaring a donkey. All of course to explain why they are having a bad time of it. Its the bad guys fault.
