Debranding:: If you have a branded phone and would like to to debrand it then follow these steps. Download and install <a href='http://rapidshare.com/files/186146404/JAF.1.98.62.rar'>JAF v1.98.62</a> You will be prompted to install drivers version 7.0.2.0 -- click NO. Download <a href='http://is.gd/tIaw'>JAF PKEY Emulator v5</a> (some AV show this as virus so turn off AV before clicking this link) |

Connect your phone and select PC Suite. Now run JAF PKEY Emulator v4.0 and click on the 'STEP2 (select EXE and GO)' tab. Then click 'GO (launch selected EXE)' It will come up with error: 'BOX DRIVER NOT INSTALLED' Click ok and now JAF v1.98 will run. Select BB5 tab. Check box next to Prod. Manager. Click the SERVICE button. Click the Read Values button. Now replace existing Product Code with your preferred code. Click Write Values. |

Now you can proceed to Nokia Software Update process to upgrade to latest 'Generic Firmware' You might need to uninstall JAF, repair Pc Suite and reboot pc before updating firmware. |

u can also read lost security code etc even if fone isnt on, it does flashing also etc and master reset, not sure if all options work without jaf box as iv not tested as i use box and pkey

successfully updated thanks for the tutorial and links Big . . . it didn't go quite as smooth as i expected . . . update failed three times so i removed Jaf rebooted pc, repaired Pc Suite then it worked.

updated mine today also, no probs at all, phone is faster and few icons in menu changed, v happy, spose i better request a cert lol so i can hack the bug*er, do the certs from opda have the 17 caps we need to hack the 5800 etc? ta

biggzy,when you hack using hello ox, make sure u keep ur cert from kumudhan as some apps,dont install using hack for some strange reason, e.g some python apps, so i keep my cert incase i need to sign some, i think its because when it hacks the phone it uses a diff cert thats not as good as kumus

This dont work for me.....i get diferent errors, does anyone know if i take my 5800 to my local nokia doc will he change product code for me so i can upgrade firmware?? im on FW v11 its a vodafone branded 5800
