gonna upgrade from a 8800gt to a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 Vapor-X 1024MB . i have a coolermaster igreen 600w psu with 38amps on the 12v rails. the only site i can find stating the required amps is guru3d and they say u need 40amps. but on other forums people are saying that is not the case it will require less. any body with a 5770 what does your psu have on the 12v rails |

if it has a 8800Gt it will run a 5770 easily......its power consumption will be very similar. probably less at load

from the specs page at ati 450 Watt or greater power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended (600 Watt and two 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode)

in crossfire you need 55amps and 600 watts minimum so a single card will need 23amps on a single 12v rail. most 600w psu's will be able to handle that.

You can hookup the toaster aswell and still have juice left to run it

i seriously doubt these early games will usefully use DX11. but if im honest nvidia are the ones who really push API's. the way its meant to be played. Pc gaming does owe a lot to nvidia for that program, and as i predicted a while ago physx was going to be pushed hard, after years of it languishing in a handful of games. nvidia have tonnes in the pipeline

its like DIRT 2. if im brutally honest its d*mn hard to see where DX11 is used lol. TBH its even quite difficult to tell the game apart on medium and ultra....

thats another reason why im going for the 5770 now if nvidia do push something exciting out i can sell it on and not loose too much money. or if im happy with ati get another and go crossfire. i shud really wait but ive had this 8800gt almost 2 years and im too impatient i want a change lol
