depends on yer pocket. what ever is the fastest will be beaten in a few months. but atm the x58 boards are the fastest with there 6400+ qpi, with usb3 and sata 3. if you want faster then your looking at servers and deep pockets.

its only a matter of time the new ddr-s are out (ddr4 or ddr5) the speeds are catching up the cpu speeds. 4ghz 8gb ddr5 ram

ddr4 is sheduled for 2012

2010 is the year DDR3 becomes the mainstream choice. which means eventually prices will drop with saturation. probably next year

Plus DDR3 gives huge chunks of bandwidth with modern processors, integrated memory controllers. core i7 can manage over 20GB/s bandwidth easily. three times core 2 and double phenom. so it'll be time before there is even a use for all that

and why do ppl need like 12gigs and even 6gigs of ram? maximum ive used is 3gigs

why do people need cars when they were born with legs.. the more ram you have the more you can do without your system slowing down. then again you need a decent system to be able to use 6-12 gigs.

my friend has a 3ghz c2d and he bought 8gigs of ram and hes thinking of getting 2 gtx295 in sli whats the point wit such cpu. he doesnt even play games

i tought the faster the ram is the better it is not the amount of mem.

not tru theres a limit to how usfull fast ram is, the real bonus is bandwidth given by ddr3 up to 25gigs. this is where the real speed comes from in tripple channel configs. a 3ghz core 2 wont be able to handle a single 296 never mind 2 of em. if i have to oc my i7 to get smooth framrates on cod4 then he would have to run at 5ghz
